An approved image inventory reduces production risk, but approval does not make every asset appropriate for every article.
Match function and context
Decide whether the image is decorative, explanatory, or evidentiary. Confirm that its subject and tone fit the page without implying data or results the article does not contain. Reuse is acceptable when the site's visual system intends it.
Inspect every rendering path
Check the in-page image, social preview metadata, and any index card. Request the underlying asset directly, verify its dimensions, and review common desktop and mobile widths for cropping, text collision, and layout shift.
Write honest text alternatives
Alt text should describe meaningful content, not repeat the keyword or title. Decorative images should follow the site's accessibility convention. Do not describe unseen details.
The publisher may select from approved inventory. New assets, altered branding, or unclear licensing should be escalated to the asset owner. This quick check keeps a fast daily cadence from weakening accessibility or visual credibility.
