Reporting requests become slow when they ask for numbers without a decision attached. A small template gives the operator enough context to return a useful answer.
State the decision
Begin with what the requester needs to decide, change, or explain. “Send the dashboard” is not a question. “Which channel needs review this week?” gives the work a purpose.
Define the measure
Name the metric, source, date range, segment, and comparison period. Clarify whether the result is directional or final. The marketing dashboard KPI definitions can prevent mismatched terms.
Add quality checks
Record missing data, attribution limits, filters, and known changes. Do not fill gaps with assumptions. Flag an anomaly for investigation rather than presenting it as a conclusion.
Deliver the action
Return the value, interpretation, evidence location, caveat, and recommended next step. Assign an owner for follow-up. A good request and a good response both make tomorrow's review easier.
