Scan Publishing Dependencies Before the Daily Release Window

Published September 9, 2026.

Most publishing delays are visible before the release starts. A dependency scan turns missing inputs into owned tasks while there is still time to resolve them.

Inventory what the page depends on

Check approved copy, frontmatter, route family, image files, cited sources, internal destinations, structured-data fields, and reviewer status. Verify file paths and URLs rather than accepting a checked box from an earlier draft.

Assign the exception

Every missing dependency needs an owner, due time, and safe fallback. A fallback might be removing a nonessential link or using an approved existing image. It must not invent a citation, silently change the publication date, or borrow another article’s identity.

Freeze the release set

At the cutoff, list the exact routes and commit intended for deployment. Move unresolved pages out of the batch instead of making hurried production edits. Recheck the count after any removal.

This routine protects cadence without treating cadence as permission to lower standards. The release begins with a known set of complete pages and a clear record of anything deferred.
