Personas can become abstract. One concrete proof point keeps a content brief connected to something a real reader tried to understand or accomplish.
Choose direct evidence
Use a customer question, support theme, sales-call note, on-site search, or a carefully interpreted query pattern. Remove personal data and link the approved source record. A plausible invented quote is not evidence.
Translate it into a task
State what the reader needs to decide or do, what they likely know already, and what would count as a useful answer. Preserve uncertainty when the evidence is indirect; a search phrase does not reveal every searcher’s motivation.
Test the outline
For each section, ask whether it advances that task. Background can stay when it prevents a mistake, but tangents should move to another page. End with a next step the intended reader can actually take.
Refresh the proof point when the brief is reused. The goal is not to make one anecdote represent an entire market. It is to keep daily production accountable to an observable reader need.
