An SEO dashboard can surface hundreds of notices before breakfast. An exception queue turns only actionable findings into owned work.
Define admission rules
Admit an item when it names an affected URL, observable failure, evidence source, and next check. “SEO score fell” is not enough. “Canonical on the new article points to staging” is a reproducible exception.
Sort by consequence
First address unavailable revenue or information pages, wrong canonical domains, accidental noindex directives, and misleading published facts. Broken internal links and metadata inconsistencies follow. Cosmetic suggestions without demonstrated reader impact can wait.
Assign one next action
Every card needs an owner and due time. Separate investigation from repair when the cause is unknown. A content operator can correct approved copy; a developer owns template behavior; the business owner resolves strategic conflicts.
Close with proof
“Fixed” is not a closing note. Record the production URL, expected result, observed result, release identifier, and check time. Reopen an item when the live page does not match the intended state.
Cap work in progress
BusinessGrowthAssistant should finish the highest-consequence verified items before importing another audit. A short honest queue produces more improvement than a large backlog of ambiguous warnings.
Frequently asked questions
Should tool severity set the priority?
Use it as a clue, then evaluate the affected page and business consequence.
What belongs outside the queue?
Ideas without a current failure belong in a roadmap or experiment backlog, not an operational exception lane.
