An article image should support the page, not exist only to fill a slot. A short review catches missing assets, misleading descriptions, and avoidable performance problems.
Match image to purpose
Decide whether the image explains a process, identifies a concept, or provides visual orientation. If it adds no information, simplify the page rather than forcing decorative detail into the alt text.
Write useful alt text
Describe the meaningful subject and context in plain language. Do not stuff keywords, start with “image of,” or repeat the caption. Decorative images can use empty alt text when the implementation supports it.
Check the asset
Confirm the file exists, the path is stable, the dimensions are appropriate, and the format is supported. The blog publishing checklist includes the surrounding metadata review.
Validate the page
Inspect the rendered image, title, caption, and nearby text together. Record the asset path, alt text, reviewer, and correction. Image review is complete when the visual helps the reader and does not obstruct the page.
