An approved image library speeds publishing, but arbitrary reuse can make unrelated articles look interchangeable. A selection log adds context without creating new design work.
Record the choice
For each article, save the asset path, intended role, crop behavior, and why it fits the subject. Confirm the file exists in the approved inventory and that the site can render its format.
Check meaning and accessibility
Decide whether the image communicates information, supports the article mood, or is decorative. Write alternative text for the purpose it serves on this page, not a generic file description. If surrounding text already provides the same information, avoid redundant narration.
Verify the delivered asset
After release, request both the visible hero source and the Open Graph image URL. Confirm successful image responses and inspect the page at narrow and wide widths for clipping, distortion, or text collisions.
The log does not grant permission to source new images or change brand assets. It documents deliberate use of what the team has already approved.
