Internal links help readers move from a question to the next useful step. Anchor review keeps that path understandable and exposes stale or accidental connections.
Read the anchor alone
An anchor should give a reasonable clue about the destination without sounding like a list of keywords. Replace “click here” with a concise description of the guide, checklist, or service.
Check the destination
Open the target and confirm it expands the current answer. Remove links that repeat the same information or lead to a different audience. The internal link audit routine can organize a larger review.
Check the path
Walk from the current question to the destination's next action. Verify that the route, content family, and context agree. Blog links should not quietly substitute for a Research page with a different purpose.
Record the fix
Log the source, anchor, target, reason, owner, and validation result. Fix the smallest useful issue first, then review orphan pages and important hubs at the next SEO session.
