Follow-up commitments are useful when they describe a real operating behavior. A simple SLA checklist helps a small team see missed handoffs before they become a pattern.
Define the event
Choose the timestamp that starts the clock, such as a complete inbound request or a qualified referral. Define what counts as a first response and what happens when the request lacks enough information.
Assign ownership
Each lead source needs a current owner and a backup. Record the handoff in the CRM, not only in a private message. The lead qualification workflow provides the fields needed to make the response useful.
Measure exceptions
Review response time, overdue records, and missing ownership. Segment by source so a busy channel does not hide a broken process elsewhere. Keep the review focused on decisions the team can change.
Improve the handoff
When a lead is late, record the cause: unclear routing, missing context, unavailable owner, or a tooling issue. Fix the recurring cause and update the checklist. An SLA is a feedback loop, not a promise to respond with an empty message.
